How to do. Stone bases I.

Pain bases is a tedious job. Your figure nearly finishd waiting fot the last detail! Sometimes take your time painting bases helps to get a excellent figure. For that reason we did stone bases for our Empire army.

Watch out for the ground…

We used to do simple bases for Warhammer Fantasy, Mordheim, 1650 A capa y espada and Warhammer 40.000 figures. But little by little we are adding extra details on bases. We had to admit that now bases look better.

We have showed  some units as mercenaries The Alcatani felloship, State Troops Von Wolder Spearmen and 1650 A capa y espada figures like Ysbilia Guard. All them have two points in common. They could play in a Empire army like Free Companies and the stone bases.

If you make your own bases, you will customize your army.

Warhammer Empire forum ask to us if we could show how we do the stone bases. It is so easy so we goin to explain here.

We used air-dry clay by Das. We put a slice over the base and then with a cutter or sculptint tool we draw lines as you can see in the pictures below.

Once we have all lines, we push with pine bark or a stone. And our stone base is textured.

Paint stone bases is much easy than do one! We use Citadel colors. When the clay is dry, we apply thin Skaveligh Dinge basecoating. A wash with Agrax, and a bit of Coelia in different points. Then we light with a first layer of Skavenlight Dinge. One layer more with Skavenlight Dinge + Debeb Stone 50%.

There are many ways to do stone bases. We use one fast and easy. Our figures of Warhammer Fantasy1650 A capa y Espada and Mordheim (Empire in flames) look good with a stone base on their foot!

We hope that you enjoy.
