The young prince took cover behind one of the towering trees that bordered the clearing where the battle raged. Peering cautiously around its trunk, he spotted the enemy unit’s leader, a target too tempting to resist. With practiced ease, he selected one of his finest arrows by touch, nocked it to his bow, and let it fly straight toward the enemy’s face. One less threat.
As he gauged the distance separating the two forces, he realized it was time to pull his loyal archers back, out of the reach of enemy blades. He slung his bow across his back, and with a swift motion, unsheathed his twin swords. He would buy the crucial time needed for a tactical retreat.
Then, he launched himself into the fray, his swords dancing in his hands, cutting through the air with lethal precision. His movements were so fluid, so swift, that he seemed almost ethereal, a ghost flitting among the enemy ranks. The foes hesitated, fear freezing them in place, unable to close the distance without facing instant death. Those few foolish enough to step into his deadly radius were cut down in seconds, their lives snuffed out in a blur of steel.
With the enemy’s advance halted, the elven archers, now in favorable positions at a safer distance, unleashed a relentless barrage of arrows. The sky darkened with their deadly rain, forcing the enemy to scatter and giving the prince the perfect cover to withdraw, his mission accomplished. The prince, bloodied but unbowed, retreated under the protective hail of arrows, ready to strike again when the time was right.
