The untamed nature of adult hippogryphs makes them impossible to domesticate as mounts. The only chance to acquire one for such a purpose is to either steal an egg from its nest or capture a sufficiently young specimen. Given the formidable challenge of reaching these creatures’ nests in the highest mountain peaks and the fierce resistance from the adult guardians, the bravest adventurers often opt to capture a young hippogryph when they descend to the lower lands. Yet, there is never a shortage of intrepid souls who, driven by the lure of prestige or the promise of a rich reward, dare to capture one of these formidable beasts. It was such a daring feat that the King accomplished when he was but a young knight.
